Interview with Seif Bedour.

Seif Bedour is an Egyptian LGTBQ+ rights activist who emigrated to The Netherlands in 2022. In Egypt, he was imprisoned for 4 months after being wrongfully accused of drug use/debauchery.

After he was released, he moved to The Netherlands seeking refuge. However, upon arriving he was detained in Ter Apel asylum centre and forced to “prove” his sexuality.

In this interview, we asked Mr. Bedour: What is life as an LGBTQ+ person like in Egypt? How effective is the protection The Netherlands provides to LGBTQ+ asylum seekers? How does wrongful imprisonment affect the rest of one’s life?

This interview was not filmed/recorded due to security reasons for Mr. Bedour and his family.
