Interview with Patricia Sellers.

International Criminal Law is both an object of hope and disappointment. Sexual violence and modern-day slavery are two weak points of ICL.

Ms. Sellers has worked as a prosecutor for gender in the Yugoslavian Tribunal and the. She developed landmark legal strategies for the interpretation of sexual violence as war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, torture and enslavement.

Ms. Sellers advises governments, international institutions, and civil society organisations on international criminal law. Right now, she is the Special Advisor for Gender for the ICC; works as a Visiting Professor in Practice at The London School of Economics; is a Visiting Fellow of Kellogg College of the University of Oxford.

In this interview, we asked her: Why does the ICC disproportionality charge people of colour? What has to change about the way modern-day slavery is treated by international law?
